Kara Cardella directs this beloved story by Barbara Robinson, in which a reluctant pageant director is determined to succeed with "the worst kids in the whole history of the world" - The Herdmans! Bullies, thieves, smokers and more, the Herdman siblings are bent on turning the Christmas Pageant into Revenge at Bethlehem! This hilarious one-act play, partially sponsored by the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce, will be put on in conjunction with the 34th annual Holiday Parade in Saline.

In the spirit of the Holiday Season, Saline Area Players is also pleased to cooperate with the Saline Fire Department and the U.S. Marine Corps in their annual Toys for Tots, campaign. In encouraging everyone attending the performance of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever to bring a new, unwrapped toy to contribute to the drive, a collection box will be located near the ticket table at the church.

Arsenic and Old Lace - October 16, 17 18, 23 & 24

The Saline Area Players present Arsenic and Old Lace, written by Joseph Kesselring, at 8:00 p.m. on October 16, 17, 23 & 24 and 3:00 p.m. on October 18. This classic play, directed by T.S. Hindes will be performed at Liberty School Theater, 7265 N. Ann Arbor St., Saline, Michigan. The seating is general admission and tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors (65+) and students (through H.S.) For ticket information, call 944-4940. Tickets may be reserved in advance or bought at the door. Cash or checks only. For special seating arrangements, please reserve tickets in advance.

Arsenic and Old Lace is the story of the eccentric Brewster family. The two spinster sisters, Aunt Abby (Alene Blomquist) and Aunt Martha (Sara Honsowetz), run a boarding house for lonely old men who never leave and cook up some fun with their Elderberry wine. The women have three nephews – Teddy (Douglas Harris), who believes he’s Teddy Roosevelt; Mortimer (Leo Babcock), who is a theatre critic and about to marry the lovely Elaine (Mindy Manalp) who lives next door with her father, the Rev. Dr. Harper (Dean Klepaczyk); and Jonathon (Alan Day) who’s a murderous criminal who hasn’t been seen for years and when he does, he looks like Boris Karloff. His accomplice Dr. Einstein (Kyle Newmeyer) has done a poor job of plastic surgery. The fun begins when the bodies start appearing. Rounding out the cast are Dan Lane, Kevin Myers, Adam Nola, Deric Prieskorn, and Rick Vaught.

This classic fun-filled play is sure to be enjoyed by anyone who loves a good, clean comedy with a bit of slapstick, misdirection and misunderstanding.
